2 years old!!

We cannot belive that Mason is 2!!  He had a wonderful birthday party with his family.  I made him a truck cake that he loved and he got many trucks, tractors, and truck books! If you can’t tell, he is obsessed with trucks right now.  He loved all his "big trucks" and "baby trucks" and wants to thanks everyone for coming to his party!  After lunch, presents, and cake we spent the afternoon outside watching Mason, Ethan, and Daddy play in the pools!

4th of July

We spent the 4th of July in Delta this year.  Mason realized quickly that the floats in the parade were throwing candy and he was out there picking up all he could find with Ethan and Grandma’s help!  He had a great time.  I had to go to work later that day, but Jeremy took Mason to the Derby and he loved watching the cars, trucks, and tractors!  He also commented frequently about  how “pretty” the fireworks were!

How to stop windows automatic reboot after auto updates have been downloaded.

How many times have you come back to your computer to find that it has been rebooted because of a system update.  If you are like me I hate this.  If you want to setup your computer to not reboot by itself follow these few simple steps.

    1. Click Start, run
    2. In the run dialog box type "gpedit.msc".  (without the quotes)  This should bring up the group policy editor
    3. Navigate down to the following directory.
	Local Computer Policy
	  Computer Configuration
	    Administrative Templates
	      Windows Components
	        Windows Update
4. Enable "No auto-restart for schedule Automatic Updates installations"
Group Policy window

Windows Launchy application

I have come across a great open source application for windows.  If you are familiar with the mac spotlight tool which lets you find applications to launch (as well as many other things), this tool named Launchy is similar.

A description of what Launchy is pulled from their website.

  • Launchy is a free windows utility designed to help you forget about your start menu, the icons on your desktop, and even your file manager.  Launchy indexes the programs in your start menu and can launch your documents, project files, folders, and bookmarks with just a few keystrokes!

Check it out and see what you think.  Get your free download at http://www.launchy.net/

Website redesign

We have been working hard to create a new website for Stowellzone.com.  This is still a work in progress.  A new look will come shortly.  This look is a temporary design that will be changed once the full design has been created.

If you have any questions or find anything that is broken please let me know.  Click on the Contact us link on the left side and fill out the form to let us know.

Hope you enjoy the new site.

If you’re interested in what this site is running, I have build the site using Drupal.  Drupal is a Content Management System.  To find out more go to their website.
