Winter At The Stowell’s

Filed under: Uncategorized — brittney @ 11:58 pm

So, I am not a fan of winter.  I love snow for Christmas and maybe once or twice I like to go out and play in it, but mostly I just wish for Spring.  I especially hate February because by then, I am really tired of the cold, so it’s a good thing it’s so short.  Now that it is March, I am soo ready for warm weather.  But I thought I’d just do a little run down of our winter months.  Nothing exciting and not a lot of pictures.  My Grandma Johnson came at the end of January and spent the weekend with us, but ya, no pictures!!

Mason is still going to school and loving it.  Sometimes only twice a week isn’t enough and he asks almost everyday if it’s a school day.  He’s made a quite a few friends and plays with a few of them away from school.  He loves his teachers and they always have great things to say about him.  He is one of the best writers in his class and everyday he’s showing more and more independence.  They love his laugh and his enthusiasm for everything and every activity they do.  He’s been a little funny lately and has starting using his left had again for a lot of things.  When he was younger, he always ate with this left hand, but slowing everything moved his right.  Then, he was writing Valentine cards at home for his classmates and I noticed he was writing with his left hand. When I asked him about it, he explained that he writes smaller with left and bigger with his right and since the cards were small, he was writing with his left.  I asked his teachers about it and they’ve noticed more and more that he’s writing and trying to cut with his left.  He still mostly uses his right, but for now we are just going to watch and see what happens!  His class went on a field trip to the local Artic Circle and because I’m such a good mom, I forgot both my camera and my phone!  They just went in the back and saw where everything was made, then got a free ice cream cone and played on the play land.  Good times!

McKinley is just as crazy as ever.  She loves her brother so much and loves to play with him.  We attempted potty training and after 1 day she decided she was scared of the potty and refuses to go near it.  But she refuses to wear diapers and so we are stuck buying pull-ups until she decides the potty isn’t so bad.  She is talking more and more and it’s so fun it see how her little mind works.  She is still very lovey and loves to give big hugs and kisses all the time.  She had definitely hit her 2′s, though and we seeing more and more fit throwing and her temper flaring up.  She doesn’t like to be ignored and we’ve found if we just ignore her, she usually calms down.  She’s always quick to apologize and give those big hugs though.  She was going through a rough streak and then we discovered she got some molars!!  She has started wanting to pick out her own clothes to wear and it’s always interesting, but that is just a battle I’d rather not fight.  Most days she ends up in just a tutu and her pull up.  Those are the days that we just stay in though, lol, she’s good to put on whatever I ask her when we go out!

I have started going to an exercise class in the mornings with my neighbor.  It’s great, we just go to the Church and everyone brings their kids.  The kids bring toys to play with and stay in the gym with us and we just dodge them while we workout.  It’s pretty fun and the kids love going.  One of kids from Mason’s school goes there too, so he likes that a lot, but both kids love playing with our neighbor, Raven, too!  I also went and played church basketball a few times, too!  The season kind of ended, but we are still hoping to play every other week or so.  It is so fun, it made me really miss playing.  Jeremy, too, he gets jealous everytime I go!  I’m still working every now  and then, usually about once a week, sometimes less.  I like the less.  Well, I like the money when I work more, but I like not being a tired and grumpy mom more!

Jeremy has just been busy at work.  He took a little break from photography the last few months but has started up again and is excited about that.   We are all just ready for sunshine and warm weather!!!

Here a few random pictures I took the last few months.  Sorry, some of the pictures are from my phone, so not great quality.

This is what happens when my kids get bored

My mom needed some pictures taken of her for class she’s taking and we got some new back drops so we used those.  I won’t post the ones of my mom cause she’d be mad, but we snapped a few random ones of kids!

Grandma and Grandpa Come To Visit and New Years

Filed under: Uncategorized — brittney @ 11:53 pm

After Christmas, my Grandma and Grandpa came to spend a few days with us.  As a Christmas present, my parents bought them tickets to fly here and then everyone stayed at our house so there wouldn’t have to be much driving and much more time to visit.  It was great to see them, we always have a fun time playing games when we see them.  We actually hardly took any pictures while they were here, but I did make sure and grab a few of them and the kids and them and me before they left.  We didn’t have much on the agenda, just mostly wanted to hang out.  We ordered out one night and sent my dad and grandpa out in the middle of a snow storm to pick up our food.  After getting stuck trying to get out of driveway, they finally made it back home.  We spent the week playing cards and games and watching football.  Oh and eating of course!!  I’m so glad they came to visit!

They left Thursday afternoon and then, we too, packed up and headed back down to Lynndyl to spend New Years Eve with Jeremy’s family.  Again, we hardly took the camera out, but I’m hoping to get some picture’s from Kelli, I’ll post those when I get them.   We had a great time visiting everyone and took a turn spending time at each aunt and uncle’s house and Grandpa’s.  Mason loves going down there with “all his friends” (as he calls his cousins lol) and McKinley loves the attentions the older girls give her.  And boy, so do I!!  We did the usually fireworks but it was so cold, only the guys ended up staying out there to watch them!

We played some games New Years Eve

(Picture coming soon!)

Kinley liked playing with Morgan too, except she had a hard time sharing some dolls with her!

Kelli taught me to crochet over the weekend.  This was my first attempt, not so good, it ended up being a hat for Kinley’s dolls! But I got better and have made lots of hats, I’ll post those later.

While we were there, we took the kids to the farm.  They love going up there and seeing the animals and helping Grandpa feed the cows.  It was pretty cold, so we  spent a lot of time in the truck!

Surprise Merry Christmas To Us!!

Filed under: Uncategorized — brittney @ 3:44 am

Jeremy and I usually don’t really do anything for each other for Christmas and this year, once again, we decided that we’d bought some fun things for the house earlier in the year and that could be our Christmas to each other.  We did buy some simple things though, he got a new tie and some black socks from me and he got me some new headphones for my ipod.  We were getting ready for Church one Sunday right before Christmas and came out of our bedroom to see what look like a hole through our 55 inch flat screen tv and the screen really fuzzy.  It didn’t take long (with some very mad parents) to get it out of Mason that he had thrown one of his cars and it had hit the tv.  The kids had been fighting over some toys earlier and the only thing we could come up with is that Mason was trying to get his cars away from McKinley and he threw one just right.  This is very unlike him, he is pretty gentle with his toys and tends to really take care of him.  We took a picture of the sad TV and culprits.

Mind you, this was a few day later when we were not so mad. :)   At first we just decided that we would have to do without a TV for a while, but soon realized that with Christmas in a few day and my Grandparents and parents coming to stay for 5 days (plus it was during the football bowls!!) that it was a little unrealistic to have that many people at our house for so long and no TV.  So we took a trip to Costco and bought a new one.  Guess we got a Christmas gift after all!  Mason lost all of his cars for a few days and has been VERY careful with the new TV!!

Christmas 2010

We had a lot of fun getting ready for Christmas this year. We decorated the tree.

As much as Kinley liked loading on the sprinkles, she didn’t like eating them as much!

We let them each open one present before bed. Usually it’s pajamas, but we had already opened them earlier at Grandma and Grandpa Stowell’s house after the Christmas party. So they each picked out a toy.

Mason was so excited for Christmas this year, it was really fun! Kinley was excited, but I think mostly it was just rubbing off from her brother. We didn’t think he’d go to sleep Christmas Eve, but I think he was so excited to wake up and see his presents that he fell right to sleep! After he woke up, we went in to get Kinley up, who was oddly extremely happy. She’s usually not a morning person.

Trying to peek to see if Santa ate the cookies, we made him go get Kinley first!

It was a fun morning, I love that the kids are getting older, they get more and more excited about stuff like this. They spent the day playing with all their toys while we hung the clock and made a delicious dinner of prime rib and….well, I can’t remember what other food there was cause the prime rib was that good! Usually we have a tradition that we get together with both our parents and have a meal all together, but with everything that happened right before Christmas, Jeremy parents decided to stay home and rest and be with Grandpa, so it was just my parents this year. But we will be doing this again, I’m sure, it was so yummy!!!
